Our History

Our Beginnings

I n 1927, J. Kelly Floyd founded Floyd Funeral Home at the old location of Magnolia Street in Olanta where he and his wife, Colene Ham Floyd, operated the funeral home for many years. Their son, James Kelton Floyd began working at the funeral home at an early age and graduated from Cincinati College of Mortuary Science in 1955. He married Jimlyn "Jeekie" Calder in 1955, and she also became a licensed funeral director.

James Kelton Floyd, President of the Corporation, took over full time management in 1970 after the death of J. Kelly Floyd.

Donn Kell Floyd, son of James Kelton Floyd, began the third generation of Floyd Funeral Home at an early age and graduated from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1977, where he has worked as a funeral director and embalmer since graduation. He also serves as the Vice President of the Corporation.

Kimberly Floyd McKenzie, daughter of Kell and Connie Evans Floyd, began working as a fourth generation of the Floyd family in 1998, and is active in the management of Floyd Funeral Home. She is married to Patrick McKenzie and they have two children, Gabby and Leah.

Floyd Funeral Home built a new modern facility located at 136 East Main Street in Olanta in 1988 and continues to provide a friendly, family atmosphere as we have for the past eight decades.
