**Obituary for Alan Dunlap**
Alan Dunlap, born on October 24, 1955, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026, at the age of 70. Residing at 3064 Olanta Highway, Olanta, SC, Alan was a beloved companion, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kind heart and warm spirit.
A high school graduate, Alan dedicated 20 years of his career to working at BMW, where he was a valued member of the assembly line team until his retirement. He loved the lake and water. He was a truck driver and worked on cars as a mechanic. His hard work and dedication were admired by colleagues and family alike. Alan was a member of Fair Forest Church.
Alan is lovingly survived by his life-long companion, Stacey Dunlap, and his children Lynn McDonald (Jared) of Scranton, Lee Allen of Scranton, Megan Tripplet (Zach) of Spartanburg, and Danielle Merritt (Todd) of Florida. His memory will also be cherished by his brother, James Dunlap (Gladys), and sister, Gail Dunlap Walker. His legacy continues with his grandchildren: Brittney (Talon), Katelynn, Dilyn, Zoey, Luke, Adalee, Abigail, and great-grandchild Callen Owens. He will be fondly remembered by nieces and nephews: Bryan Lancaster, Justin Lancaster, Magan Lancaster, Rob Knight, and Jennifer Shipman (Shawn), and several great-nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, James Dillard Dunlap, Jr. and Imogene Seymour Dunlap, his daughter Shannon Allen, his grandson Cody Allen, his sister Dianne Lancaster, and his brother-in-law Weedy Walker.
In celebration of Alan's life, a memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM at United Baptist Church (Word of Life), located at 7319 Valley Falls, Spartanburg, SC 29303. His service will be officiated by Rev. Jimmy Hilton. Family, friends, and those whose lives he touched are welcome to attend and honor his memory.
