Bobby E-Thel Thornhill

Bobby E-Thel Thornhill, age 89, of Lynchburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026. Born on Sunday, April 4, 1937, in Olanta, South Carolina, Bobby was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

He was a proud graduate of Olanta High School and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force for 22 years, reaching the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from military service, Bobby continued to influence young lives as an ROTC instructor at Wilson High School in Florence County.

Bobby is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Maude Street Thornhill, as well as his cherished daughters, Roaxann Wilkinson (Bernard) of Heath Springs, SC, and Ronda Mohr (Daniel) of Papillion, Nebraska. His legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Mark Wilkinson, Taylor Mohr (Cassandra), and Kyla Mohr; and great-grandchildren, Draven Wilkinson (Veronica), Hayden Wilkinson, Lorden Wilkinson, and James Wilford Mohr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Thornhill and Ethel Josephine Stewart Thornhill Player; his sisters, Mildred Johnson Dukes, Maude Phillips, and Mazine Harmon; and his brother, Tommy Thornhill; sister-in-law, Dot Thornhill.

Bobby's life was a testament to dedication, service, and love for his family and community. He found solace and strength in his faith, and his involvement with Shiloh Christian Church was an essential part of his life.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Shiloh Christian Church, where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held at the church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Shiloh Memorial Gardens.
