It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Clyde C. Baird Jr.,who left us peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Clyde was born in Sumter, SC, and dedicated his life to serving his community and country with unwavering commitment. Friends and family affectionately called him "Clydie" or "Clyde Jr.".

A celebration of Clyde's extraordinary life will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the sanctuary of the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church. Services will be officiated by Rev. His dedication to public service continued in his role as the Deputy State Fire Marshal for South Carolina, and as a member of the Turbeville Volunteer Fire Departmeent, where he worked diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of others until his retirement. After his retirement, Clyde enjoyed farming and spending his days at the Turbeville Hardware Store with Keith and his friends where Clyde was known for his quick whit, sense of humor and his wonderful storytelling ability. He was an avid golfer but also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to cook most of all. He excelled at everything he did and there wasn't much he could not do. He was loyal to a fault. If he loved you, you knew it.
