Gayle Odom Hickman, 69, of Shiloh, passed away June 3, 2026.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7 beginning at 1 pm at Floyd Funeral Home in Otlanta. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm and will conclude with a graveside service at Lake City Memorial Park for her burial.
A native of Otlanta, Gayle was born to Woodrow and Thelma Odom. She was a devoted wife, a proud mom, and a “firecracker” sister and friend who loved to laugh, had a big smile and a big heart, and was a gifted poet and writer. She could capture the love and personality of a person or situation by crafting creative verses and rhymes. Her friends would call her kind and loyal, her family would say protective and loving, but everyone would agree Gayle was adored by her people. She loved family gatherings at Christmas and at the lake. But by far, her greatest achievement and proudest accomplishment were her two sons.
Gayle was predeceased by her husbands Doug Hickman of Shiloh (2016) and Wesley Eugene Sims of Turbeville (2001). She also was preceded in death by siblings Yvonne Deas and Donald Odom (Brenda). Survivors include her two sons, David Baker (Julie Kim) of Brooklyn, NY; Wade Baker (Victoria Hirschberg) of Nashville, TN; her sisters Susan Spring of Florence and Joyce Stalvey (Mike) of Florence; and many other cherished family members and friends.
