HMC Hughie Wiley Johnson, US Navy (Ret.), 82, passed away on January 29, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Johnson was born on August 3, 1943, in Aynor, South Carolina, to Hillary Joseph King Johnson and Alma Evangeline Edwards Johnson. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 24 years as a Hospital Medical Corpsman and was a member of American Legion Post #85 in Olanta. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for 20 years in health claims processing and quality control with CHAMPUS/TRICARE, now known as Blue Cross Blue Shield. He enjoyed reading and traveling. Most importantly, Hughie loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Yanda Diane Johnson Hollenbaugh, and two brothers, Hillary Samuel Johnson and Freddie Dean Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Emma Jean Thigpen Johnson; sisters, Shelby Jean Johnson Elliott, Peggy Sue Johnson Palmer, and Tammy Crystal Johnson Cook (Brian); and brothers, Billy Wayne Johnson (Jackie) and Joseph King Johnson.
