Jason Samuel Plowden

1974 — 2025

Johnsonville

Jason Samuel Plowden, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home in Johnsonville, SC on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Born on January 21, 1974, in Charleston, South Carolina. Jason, aged 51, lived a life characterized by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.

Jason's steadfast commitment to law enforcement led him to graduate from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, a stepping stone to his career with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, where he served diligently as a deputy. His courage and integrity were respected and admired by both his colleagues and the community he swore to protect.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Amy Majerus Plowden. Together, they built a loving home and raised two daughters who were the light of his life: Hannah Plowden (Shane Lee) of Barrineau and Chelsie Plowden of Johnsonville. Jason's family also includes his sister, Crystal Plowden of Scranton; his niece, Chloe McGee; and his nephew, Toby McGee (Lizzie Chandler).

Though he leaves behind a grieving family, Jason is now reunited with those who preceded him in death, including his parents, James Henry Plowden and Martha Ann King Plowden, and his nephew, T. J. McGee.

Jason's love for life extended beyond his professional duties. An avid sportsman, he found peace in the great outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or relishing the tranquility of mountain retreats. His passion for these pursuits was only matched by the joy he found being in the company of his loved ones.

A visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Floyd Funeral Home (136 E. Main Street, Olanta, SC) and at other times at the family home, 365 Alberts Lane, Johnsonville, SC.

A celebration of Jason's life will take place at 3 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Cypress Grove Church (7001 Friendfield Road, Effingham, SC), officiated by Rev. Joel Billings. Following the service, Jason will be laid to rest at the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church Cemetery (Main Street, Turbeville, SC). The service will be supported by pallbearers, Bobo Graham, Stephen Knight, Lee McPhatter, Brian McClam, Michael Brumbles, and Neal Poston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, Attn: FCSO Foundation, PO Box 1615, Florence 29503 in Jason's memory, continuing his legacy of helping others. Jason will be deeply missed but eternally remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Jason's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Arrangements have been made with Floyd Funeral Home, Inc., ensuring Jason's farewell will be handled with the utmost care and respect.
