Miriam McGee Floyd, a beloved mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on Saturday, February 3, 1951, in Olanta, SC, Miriam was the daughter of the late LeRoy C. McGee and Willie Alice Tobias Kirby.
Miriam’s life was a testament to compassion and dedication. She found her calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant, offering care and comfort to countless hundreds of individuals throughout her career. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to know her.
She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Allen Kinlaw, Jr., and his wife, Dana, of Columbia, and Glenn Kinlaw and his wife, Mary, of Sardinia. Miriam was a cherished grandmother to Adair Floyd and her husband, Thomas; Grant Kinlaw and his wife, Lauren; and Mary Louise Gallaway and her husband, Tyler. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in their accomplishments and adventures. Miriam is also survived by her special cousin, Eric Gardner, and her dear niece, Donna Bryan. They were not just family but steadfast companions throughout her life journey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Franklin C. Floyd; her siblings, L.C, Stevie, Philip, and Frankie Ann; and her aunt, Bobbie Jean Gardner. Each played a pivotal role in shaping the resilient and loving woman she became.
Miriam’s warmth and dedication will be remembered by many. Her influence endures through the love and memories she leaves with her family and friends. She spent her whole life focused on loving and caring for her family, especially her grands. She felt her calling was to take care of others.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2pm on Monday, December 22, 2025 in the Olanta Baptist Church Cemetery (Park Avenue, Olanta, SC). The family will receive guests following the service.
