Turbeville

Sarah Monica “Muff” McFaddin, age 61, daughter of Nancy Coker McFaddin and the late Richard Dyson McFaddin, died January 6, 2026.

Muff was a strong leader whose life was defined by service, commitment, and an unwavering love for her people. She led by example—quietly when needed, boldly when required—and left a lasting impact on every life she touched.

A 1982 Honor Graduate of East Clarendon High School, Muff was a proud and well-rounded student-athlete. She played basketball and softball and was an active member of the band, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. Her athletic talent and work ethic earned her All-Conference recognition, and in her senior year, she was honored with the prestigious F.E. DuBose Award and Shad Hall Award, reflecting her leadership, character, and dedication. Most recently, Muff was inducted into the East Clarendon Athletic Hall of Fame.

Muff continued her education at Winthrop College, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She walked on to the Winthrop softball team, becoming part of two historic teams that captured NAIA District 6 Championships.

Since the passing of her beloved sister, Coco, she took great pride in ensuring only the best for her niece, Nancy Caroline, her great-niece, Sutton, and her great-nephew, Thomas. Her love was evident in the everyday moments—at daycare drop-off, on quick runs for diapers, or joyfully spoiling them with their favorite things. These two tiny humans will never know how much they meant to her; she cherished every moment with them. Muff also took pride in carrying on Tom and Coco’s legacy by continuing the famous New Zion 4th of July celebration.

Professionally, Muff dedicated 35 years of faithful service to the United States Postal Service, retiring with pride after decades of hard work and dependability. Muff loved her work, her customers, and most of all, she loved her work family.

Even in retirement, Muff never stopped giving back or working. She remained deeply involved in the East Clarendon sports community, generously supporting and helping coach softball. She also helped lead catering efforts with her Becky’s Café family alongside her lifelong friend Becky Yates Levine and her girls. She devoted countless days and hours to others. Muff did take a few days off when she would go on the next great adventure with the infamous “Clemson Club.” She loved the members of the “Clemson Club,” cherished each of them, and often had wonderful stories to share of their adventures.

Muff loved her people fiercely. She believed in showing up, standing strong, and leaving things better than she found them. Her legacy lives on through the countless athletes, teammates, coworkers, friends, and family members she inspired with her strength, loyalty, and heart.

Surviving are her mother Nancy Coker McFaddin of Turbeville; her precious niece Nancy Caroline Floyd (Blake Shores), of New Zion, a great niece Sutton Anna-Caroline Shores and nephew Thomas Blake Riddle Shores, whom she absolutely adored; special cousin who was like a second mother-Debby Coker Thames of Florence and “the baby sister she always wanted”, Tara Thames McKenzie of Florence. Muff had so many friends whom she adored and loved, her “Coker Cousins” being cherished favorites.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Coker McFaddin “Coco” Floyd; her brother-in-law, “Tom” Floyd; and her father, Richard Dyson McFaddin.

A funeral service will be held 3pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside service and at other times at the home of Mrs. Nancy McFaddin 1148 Coker Street, Turbeville.
