Dianne Sargent, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at McLeod Health Clarendon in Manning, South Carolina, at the age of 79. Born on December 11, 1946, in Pell City, Alabama. Dianne's life was marked by resilience, devotion, and an abiding love for her family and community.
Dianne's story began in the warmth of Pell City, Alabama as the cherished daughter of Thurman Odell Harris and Eleanor Whitten Harris, both of whom preceded her in death. From her earliest years, Sherrill embodied a spirit of kindness and strength that would become her legacy. Through every chapter of her life, Sherrill drew on those foundational values, sharing them generously with everyone whose lives she touched.
She had her masters degree majoring in English. She was a retired editor and proof reader of Randal House Publishing for 15 years. She also worked part-time for Trevecca Nazarene University.
Dianne found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her devoted sons, Brian (Kristie) Sargent of Turbeville and Chris (Tori) Sargent of Spain, who brought her immense pride and happiness. Her love further extended to her grandchildren, Harrison Neil, Eleanor Jewellene, Elisha Weldon, and William Allen—each of whom held a special place in her heart. Sherrill’s presence was a guiding light, her counsel steady and gentle, her encouragement unwavering.
Her sisters, Judith Harris Johnson of Mississippi and Mary Jo Dingus of Tennessee , survive her and continue to cherish the bond they shared with Sherrill through their lives together. Sherrill’s caring nature also touched her nephew, David Dingus, whose memories with her will serve as a source of strength and comfort.
She is predeceased by her parents, Thurman Odell Harris and Eleanor Whitten Harris; her son, Billy Eugene Sargent, lll.
Throughout her lifetime, Dianne cultivated a sense of devotion and faith that inspired all who knew her. She steered her family with compassion, provided steadfast friendship, and embraced every opportunity to share her generosity. Whether comforting her loved ones or reaching out to her community, Dianne lived each day with grace and sincerity.
