Walter Hodge

January 20, 1945 — October 5, 2021

MANNING – Walter Ernest Hodge, 76, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Born January 20, 1945, in the Foreston Community of Manning, he was a son of the late James Winford Hodge and the late Fannie Frances Dubose Hodge. He a veteran of the US Army, retired from the National Guard and was a carpenter before he retired from the construction industry. He survived by his three sons, Wally (Alicia) of Lufkin, TX, Will (Karen) of Florence, SC, Edward (Sarah) of Azle, TX; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother Perry D. Hodge of Manning, three sisters Betty Yurgalavage of Bryon, Ga, Linda Cutter and Marian (Melvin) Worrell both of Manning; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Graveside service with be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the Hodge Family Cemetery. (1073 Pratt Ave. Manning, S.C) with Rev. Elton Hilton officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Richburg, Tommy Thompson, Mendel Hodge, Randy Cutter, Melvin Worrell II, and Dane Pate. If anyone would like to visit family other than at the graveside may go to the home of Marian Worrell at 1196 Fannie Lane, Manning COVID-19 are precautions of face masks and social distancing are required at the visitation and service.
