Wayne Charles Stone

Charlie Stone, 60, of Sumter, South Carolina passed away Monday, August 10, 2020. Charlie was born in El Paso, Texas in 1959, he was a son of Willahmenia Bryant Stone and the late Charles Laverne Stone. He was a CWO III in the United States Army having served over 17 years. He was an avid golfer and die-hard Gamecocks fan. Charlie coached for 8 years at East Clarendon and made a huge impact on the youth. He was devoted to family and his favorite job was being a Granddaddy. He loved his kids and especially his wife. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Todd Bryant. He is survived by his mother; wife of 35 years, Tammy Stone; daughter, Elizabeth Stone; sons, Bryant Stone and Nate Stone (Beth); brother, Terry Stone; and grandchildren, Huntley and Alexander; sisters-in-law, Nancy Beben (Les) and Kimberly Combs both of Sumter; brother-in-law, Richard Combs (Meng) of San Diego; several nieces and nephews. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made to the Tuomey Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
