W.C. “Cooter” Lee, 85, of Scranton, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at MUSC in Florence.
Born April 1, 1941, in Florence County, he was the son of the late Wylie C. Lee Sr. and Maddie Mae Lynch Lee.
Known to family and friends as “Cooter,” he loved to cut up and always had a quick comeback. He was happiest when he could get on his tractor and plow. When he was indoors, he enjoyed a good Western and liked watching Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune. His family will remember his quick wit, his charm, and the way he made them laugh. W.C. retired from SOCAR after many years as a welder.
He is survived by his two sisters, Nettie Coker, Gertrude Floyd, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lamar Lee, Hazel Baxley, Woodrow Lee, Eulas Lee, Buck Lee, Buddy Lee, and Magdalene Lee.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Floyd Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Terri McClam and Pastor Doug Filyaw officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens in Scranton.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Rev. Terri McClam and Nurse Shay for their friendship, care, and visits with Cooter.
