Our History

Floyd Funeral Home was founded in 1927 by J. Kelly Floyd and his wife, Colene Ham Floyd, in their home on Magnolia Street in Olanta, South Carolina. Together with their son, James Kelton Floyd, they built a funeral home grounded in personal service and community trust.

After the passing of his father, James Kelton Floyd assumed full-time management in 1970 and continued leading the funeral home for decades, maintaining the same standards of care and professionalism established by his parents. In 2015, due to illness, James retired, and his son, Donn “Kell” Floyd, stepped into management, continuing the family’s commitment to serving Olanta families.

Today, Floyd Funeral Home remains dedicated to its founding values—providing compassionate care, honoring life, and supporting families with empathy and professionalism. With a committed local staff, the funeral home continues to serve families from all walks of life, just as it has for more than nine decades.
